SpotSticker Baits Puts the Q in Jig (continued)

Real World Tests: Spotsticker Baits's casting jig is built on a 4/0 Mustad Ultra Point hook and molded with an arkie style head. Depending on the color pattern you choose, the company uses a mix of silicone and living rubber to fill out the bulk of the skirt. The skirts are tied into place with 22 gauge steel wire and each head is painted to match the color pattern of the skirt. This paint has a high end look to it with subtle metallic flakes and the part I like is the line ties are always paint free.

These jigs are equipped with Mustad Ultra Point hooks.

I fished this jig in flipping, pitching, casting situations hopping it off the bottom, swimming it back to the boat, and even deadsticking next to laydowns.

The SpotSticker arkie style head is perfect for these "all purpose" type presentations and are suitable in situations where the bottom is rocky or you're trying to work the jig through patches of weeds.

Skirts are fastened with a tightly wound 22 gauge stainless steel wire.

Spotsticker Baits's Casting Jig held up just fine in all these situations. The skirt material, held in place with that wire opens up nicely underwater and the paint on the jighead holds up well over the coarse of a day's fishing varied bottom conditions as well.

Pretty standard hook keeper molded onto the hook shank.

Design & Ergonomics: As with most manufacturers of jigs, Spotsticker Baits offers their casting jig in far too many color options than you will possibly ever need. If there's a need for something "all purpose," it's in a jig color! But of course, if you're trying to match the forage in the body of water you're fishing, more options is always better than too few.

Rigged with a Zoom trailer and ready to go.

Price & Applications: Spotsticker Baits's Casting Jig is priced about right at $3.99 per jig. They offer it in three eighths ounce (3/8oz) and half ounce (1/2oz) sizes and can be ordered right of their website (www.spotsticker.com) or from retailers like TackleWarehouse.

Pluses and Minuses:

Plus

Minus
+ Put together very well with quality materials - If you're using super heavy line on a super powerful rod, this hook will be too thin - but remember, this isn't a flipping jig.
+ Sharp hook
+ All purpose head style
+ Quality paint on the head

For making such a quality product, Spotsticker Bait's has won this Editor's Choice Award.

Conclusion: I don't fish a jig as often as I should anymore, but when I do tie one on, if it isn't something I'm fishing for a review, I'm pretty picky about the way it's put together and how it looks. The skirt has to be tied and not fastened with a rubber band, the paint on the head has to be good quality, that line tie has to be clean, the hook has to be good quality, and it has to just look right. Spotsticker Baits's Casting Jig meets all of these check points and more and that's why it has won this Editor's Choice Award.
