Event Article:
2nd Annual Media Day |
Top Pros Come out
for Pardee - 2nd Annual Media Day
(continued)

Meanwhile on the main lake
Cal and Kent were fishing shaky head worms in deep water. They got into a pack
of smallies and worked the area back and forth. “So what made you put together
this event in the first place?” Cal inquired.

Kent preps to fish deep water with
shaky head rigs
“It’s all about getting
everyone together,” Kent responded. “I’ve known all of these guys for a long
time, some are west coast guys others are national, but all of them are really
close to me. The real goal of an event like this is to share what I know with
the up and coming guys and pair them with outdoor writers so they can tell their
stories."

Tick, tick...
"Just because you’re a
regional pro doesn’t mean there isn’t an interesting story there, and even if
you’re a national pro then it helps these guys reach a broader audience.” The
sense of mentoring and brotherhood really was apparent as Kent went into
detailed stories with Cal of how he met each of the pros present here today at
Lake Pardee.

....and Kent lands a nice
smallmouth
Cal
could have stayed out all day listening to Kent’s stories, each one of the pros
had a distinct personality, style, and story that brought them to the point
where they are today. Time flies when you’re having fun, and before they knew it
they were heading back to the launch ramp to pull out.

Byron Velvick fish side by side
At the ramp the pros and
the press snapped some final pictures and head in to the café at Pardee where
our hosts Richard and his wife Kerry served up a mean burger to everyone. The
bass fishing was decent, the trout fishing was exceptional, and everyone joked
about the amount of trout caught by some of the most respected bass anglers on
the tour.

Randy McAbee and Zander head back
to the launch
Pardee is all about
catching big fish, and whether it is largemouth, smallies, or trout this clear
water lake has them. With so many trout we drooled just thinking about
the swimbait bite later this season.

great day filled with Pros, Press, and a few fish too
Conclusion: The
team at Jackson Rancheria, Lake Pardee, and Kent Brown put together another
great event this year putting pros and press side by side to share techniques,
new tackle, and stories all making for another unforgettable day out. We can’t
wait for the 3rd annual event, but you can be sure that we won’t be
waiting that long to come back and fish Pardee. Even though we didn’t get that
record smallmouth today with all those trout in the lake there is no doubt that
the next record smallie is putting on weight as we speak.
