Introduction: When it came to high-performance rods one of the most
interesting introductions this ICAST came from Jackall, in the form of the
co-branded Shimano-Jackall completely refreshed Poison Adrena B Series rods.
There are even two very special rods in the new lineup that are designed
specifically for forward facing sonar and strolling style lures.
This ICAST Shimano x Jackall have
refreshed the Poison Adrena line
Solid
Poison: Last ICAST the team-up
between Shimano and Jackall gave anglers the enthusiast-class Poison Ultima
rods. Those rods felt very JDM-esque and the biggest knock on them was simply
the price of entry. This ICAST Shimano America is launching a new lineup of
Poison Adrena rods that are more "affordable" but still lean on the
high-performance side. The Poison Adrena B Series have been refined to improve
rigidity, sensitivity, and push the envelope in ultimate lightness.
The new rods feature full
monocoque handles and proprietary CI4+ reel seats
To achieve this Shimano and Jackall engineers
leveraged a combination of proprietary rod technologies with application
specific actions that even target some of the newest applications, including
leveraging forward facing sonar.

Marketing Manager, demonstrates the smooth taper on the Poison Adrena solid tip

All the new Poison Adrena B rods leverage
Shimano’s proprietary Spiral X Core technology and Toray Nanoalloy which is
designed to enhance torsional rigidity by 10% and compressional rigidity by 15%,
resulting in superior strength and durability without sacrificing lightness.
The rods feature X-Guides
(spinning) with Fuji SiC
The redesigned Full Carbon Monocoque Handle and
CI4+ reel seat further contribute to the Poison Adrena B's unparalleled
sensitivity and lightweight feel. Anglers will experience heightened
transmission of lure action and bites, allowing for more accurate and effective
presentations. The guide train, consisting of Shimano X-Guide and Fuji SiC
guides, ensures the rod is perfectly balanced to reduce overall weight while
enhancing casting distance and accuracy.
These rods prioritize weight
reduction and sensitivity and the butt cap is even hollowed out
Our
Quick Take: To me the most
intriguing new rods in the Poison Adrena B series are the PAD2610MPSB and
PAD2610MLSB spinning rods which feature Shimano’s Taftec Infinity technology to
provide anglers with a high-strength solid-tip design that is designed to
provide excellent sensitivity and extremely responsive action for working
strolling-style lures.
JP DeRose shows us the unique
solid Taftec technology tip close up. The tip feels great and handles baits
beautifully without feeling like it is simply two materials fused together
For those that are not as familiar with this
technique strolling uses a plastic lure on a jighead, or even a specific
strolling jig, to present a plastic bait twitched back and forth. Combined with
FFS you can basically walk your bait at target depth and speed to drive bites. I
fished these rods for three days leading up to ICAST and found the new Poison
Adrena B rods to be extremely crisp and sensitive, but it was these two solid
tipped rods that really impressed me.
I have caught a few largemouth
with the new Poison Adrena B rods and they look and feel great. The 6'10" ML
solid tip rod feels special and is a strolling weapon
Not only are the solid tips on these rod extremely
responsive for delivering excellent action for lightweight baits but even more
surprising is how well they transition into the rest of the blank under load.
They don't feel like a joining of two materials, and they offer lifting power
that feels smooth, powerful, and natural. Retailing for $379-$399 these new
Poison Adrena rods look and feel like a major upgrade over the last generation.
These new Adrena rods are very solid.
