Introduction: Primarily known as an aftermarket upgrade component
manufacturer, Gomexus has quickly expanded their product offering by branching
out into the swimbait, reel, and tool segments. This ICAST the company unveiled
an array of new products that leverages their expertise in CNC manufacturing.

ICAST
Cyberbait 210F: Computer Numerical
Control (CNC) manufacturing is an expensive, but very precise, manufacturing
process that utilizes the computer operation of machining tools. This process is
common for the fabrication of tools, other machinery components, aluminum reels,
just to name a few. It is not common to use CNC as the primary process to build
swimbaits, which is exactly what Gomexus does on their Cyberbait Series.
The Cyberbait 240 was Gomexus's
first swimbait and is produced by their subsidiary VIX Custom in South Korea
Earlier this season the company unveiled the
Cyberbait 240 which it sells directly to consumers for $129 and comes with an
interchangeable lip and multiple tails that change this full sized swimbait from
a glide to a wake, and even a crankdown. This ICAST the company unveiled a smaller 210
floating bait with a more shad like profile which features the same machined
precision but with some additional features. This bait includes a light stick in
the head designed for easier surface tracking in low light, a weight adjustment
system, a customizable rear section, and even interchangeable wings that turn it
into a crawler. Price has yet to be announced but expect the new bait to start
making it to US shores late this season.

Reels and Housings: Expanding their use of
their CNC process and machines Gomexus is also introducing new aluminum frame
upgrades that can be used with or without their matching upgrade handles. One of
their first introductions is a aluminum reel frame for Penn Senator reels which
is designed to add additional rigidity, as well as refresh the look of the
classic reel. These frames are available now for $59.95.
Gomexus expanded into multiple new
segments this ICAST. The common theme? Precision metal work.
But why stop at just frames? Gomexus is also
building complete reels now and their first introductions are traditional round
reels for saltwater, including a jigging and trolling reel. These reels are
designed to stand up to big inshore and offshore fish with an all machined
design, high strength brass gearing, carbon fiber drag system, all fitted to a
easy to manage narrow spool design.

reel frames like this one for Penn Senator reels
As with other Gomexus offerings the goal of the
reel is to provide a strong product at an aggressive price and the Slow Pitch
jigging reel (LS20) retails for only $259.99 and comes backed with a 1 year free
exchange and 3 year free reel repair and service (in the US), and lifelong free
parts for maintenance.
The LS20 Captain's Choice Slow
Pitch jigging reel is just an example of what Gomexus is building in addition to
aftermarket handles and knobs
Tools and Accessories: Gomexus is also
making a big push into fishing tools and accessories and is launching titanium
fishing pliers that are completely CNC machined and come with a split ring tip
and a tungsten carbide line cutter. These premium pliers retail for $159 or $179
bundled with a molded leather sheath and Kevlar lanyard.
Gomexus now offers a complete
range of metal tools including knives and fish grippers
The Gomexus Plier X is a high-end
tool constructed from titanium
The company is also introducing an assortment of
knives, aluminum grippers, and even an rechargeable digital grip/scale. This new
grip-scale looks higher-end than traditional scales and features a USB-C
rechargeable battery embedded into the grip that powers an easy to read OLED
screen. The tool is designed for both fresh and saltwater use, features
stainless steel jaws and is waterproof with an IPX7 rating. Pricing has yet to
be announced but we know it will be more expensive than the non-digital Gomexus
Aluminum fish gripper with spring loaded scale which retails for $44.95.

Our Quick Take: Gomexus is leaning in deep
to their CNC capabilities and is introducing a much wider range of tackle than
we expected from a brand that was best known for their aggressively priced
handle and upgrade options. The latest products including the Cyberbait,
in-house reels, and well designed tools will go a long way to help shed the
image of making KO knobs, and also demonstrates the wide spectrum of products
that the company can offer. In addition to the mentioned products they are even
launching marine and hunting products that range from a stainless steel boat
steering knob to aluminum scope rings for picatinny and weaver rails. The
company clearly knows how to build quality metal products and make them
affordable to consumers. This is the ICAST that Gomexus really established
itself as more than just an reel parts company, but a full-fledged tackle brand
with expertise in both metal component design and manufacturing.
