A Message to Our Readers - Let's Tackle This Together

Date: 4/6/20
Tackle Type: All
Publication: TackleTour
Editor: Zander

To all our all readers,

The fishing community has always been a tight-knit one, filled with passionate anglers that share a love for fishing, and enjoy all that the outdoors has to offer. For many of us fishing is so much more than just time well spent on the water, but also a way for us to connect with each other. Normally at this time of year we would be preparing for the pre-spawn with coverage of early season tackle introductions, but instead find ourselves in an unprecedented situation where we are all united in the fight against the spread of COVID-19.

Our entire editorial staff grew up in the Northern California Bay Area, where we are still based, and as we experience the regional and global impact that COVID-19 already has had on the lives of everyone, including our readers, tackle manufacturers, retailers/e-tailers, and the entire angling community, our hearts break. We wish to offer our deepest sympathies to anyone whose health and economic well-being has been impacted by this ongoing crisis. At the same time we have witnessed people coming together, extreme acts of kindness and bravery, and want to thank all those that are working selflessly on the front lines to provide essential services and make it possible for the rest of us to continue to be productive, and live our daily lives.

While it is important to have social distancing I also believe in the need to connect socially, and our staff is committed to continue to provide content that we hope will help brighten your day, and keep you connected to the tackle, and sport, that we all share a mutual passion for. I think it is more important than ever during challenging times such as this to come together, and to do whatever each of us can in order to protect the health and safety of each other, while helping the community around us to do the same.

Here at TackleTour we are committed to supporting organizations that are providing to those in need during this unprecedented period. This is why we are donating 50% of our ad revenue in the months of March, April, and May to the American Red Cross to aid in their lifesaving mission in this public health emergency, and to Feeding America to provide food assistance and supplies to people across the country at this difficult time.

These are definitely stressful times for everyone, but anglers are among the most adaptable, and resilient, people that I've had the privilege to meet over the last two decades in which TackleTour has been in existence, and I have no doubt that together we will come out of this stronger, and with an even greater appreciation for the sport of fishing, and all the priceless connections and memories that it enables.

Be kind to one another, support each other, and I look forward to the day when we can all safely pursue the fish that we love, and all that comes with it.

Let's tackle this together. Better days are ahead.

Alex "Zander" Mei
