The
Legend Alpha 199 Series Bass Boat Handles like a Sports Car
(continued)

Construction:
The Alpha 199 is built with a custom molded fiberglass hull from the stringer
through the transom to the outer hull itself, all three elements are covered
with a lifetime warranty. There is an option to add a fiberglass passenger
console with a lockable dry storage glovebox, but unlike many other boats that
require anglers to make the choice and stick with it the Legend design is
modular so that anglers can remove the second console in just a matter of
minutes by undoing a few bolts if they need the extra space.

The steering wheel angle is able
to be adjusted
Each of the compartments
is secured with a steel bi-directional lock. The lids on all of the dry storage
compartments felt extremely solid and were thermally insulated and propped up
with hydraulic lifts making it easy to access tackle quickly without having to
prop the lids open with your arm or leg.

The boat is a good fishing
platform but similarly sized Rangers do feel more stable
Overall the Legend Alpha
199 is built with excellent components and the attention to detail is superb.
Another example is the rear compartment where the
riggers at Legend organize
and wire the engine compartment extremely clean allowing easy access to
batteries, bilge pumps, and livewell pumps should you need it.

Pull up cleats stealth away neatly
when not in use
When it comes to the
styling Legend is able to do just about anything in terms of color patterns and
has also found a way to incorporate fades into the actual color scheme so you
can transition from one color to the next within the same strip, this allows
customers to get really creative with their designs.

Anglers can choose either Minn
Kota or Motorguide 24V trolling motors
Engine:
Power in our test boat came courtesy of a Mercury 225hp Optimax but if you are a
fan of other brands it isn’t an issue with Legend. They work with Mercury,
Evinrude, and Yamaha and Anglers can customize their powerplants both on the
front and the back. Minn Kota and Motorguide 24 volt trolling motors can both be
chosen and either control pedal will fit flush into the recessed deck. The main
motor is mounted on a Hydro Dynamics custom jack plate which makes positioning
the motor in the ideal position for varying conditions quick and easy.

There is plenty of room for two
anglers up front...
Helm:
Sitting in the Legend Alpha 199 felt like dropping into the cockpit of a low
slung exotic sports car. Anglers can pick the color of their consoles and are
greeted with an aggressively styled steering wheel with leather and ergonomic
metal accents. The Alpha 199 also makes use of Faria Performance Series gauges
which contrast nicely with the black dash, and navigation and electronics are
flush mounted behind the steering wheel.

...as well as rods
The steering wheel isn’t
fixed and can be adjusted to three different angles to accommodate a range of
heights or simply make it easier to get in and out from behind the low slung
console. Another nice touch is the centrally located switches which are all
waterproof and flush mounted into the dash as well. The Alpha 199’s dash is just
about as aggressive as they come and screams custom design. It is here behind
the dash that anglers start to get the impression this is not a “me too”
machine.

Flush mounted control switches are
all centrally located
