The popularity of the Mojo series
of rods brings us the Mojo Musky

Available in 6 different models, these rods
feature Batson Forecast hard aluminum-oxide guides with double coated black

Avid Carp: St Croix has added two
tournament-grade carp rods to its top-selling series of Avid spinning rods.
Designed by carp tournament champion Lee Young, the new rods are built to cast
long distances and fight large, powerful fish, yet also protect small hooks down
to size #10 and #12.

Two Carp rods are introduced in
the Avid series
Avid Carp rods are made from premium, high-modulus
SCIII graphite blanks designed using Integrated Poly Curve® (IPC®) tooling
technology for extreme sensitivity and strength. Available in 12' and 9' 6"
models, the Avid Carp rods feature a unique progressive multi-taper design with
a thin, fast tip to enhance strike detection and protect small, fine-wire
hooks. The power curve progresses down the entire blank, making casts of 75 – 100
yards almost effortless – while providing plenty of backbone to control large,
wild carp.

Outfitted with Fuji Alconite guides, Fuji DPS reel
seats with gunsmoke hoods, and premium-grade cork handles, all thread wraps are
protected with two coats of Flex Coat slow-cure finish for an attractive
appearance and rugged durability. This series of rods will have a limited
lifetime warranty and will retail for $240 and $280.

Bank Robber (Fly): St. Croix and Kelly
Galloup have co-developed a mini-series of specialized streamer fly rods
cleverly named
the Bank Robber™ – built specifically for “pounding the bank” with streamers
along major trout rivers. Kelly Galloup is a well-known fly designer, outfitter,
writer, seminar speaker and lodge owner on Montana’s Madison River. His "Butt
Monkey" and "Zoo Cougar" and other innovative patterns have led the recent revolution
in streamer fly fishing.

Here's a new series called the
Bank Robber, co-designed by Kelly Galloup
The new mini-series features two 9' 4-piece rods
rated for #6-weight and #7-weight lines. Built on high-modulus/highstrain SCV
graphite blanks and reinforced with super-high-modulus SCVI graphite in lower
sections for added power with reduced weight, they’re two of the first St. Croix
rods to feature 3M™ Matrix Resin, the innovative new nano resin from 3M.™
Combined with St. Croix’s proprietary Integrated Poly Curve® (IPC®) tooling
technology, which produces continuous curve tapers for one-piece performance in
a four-piece design, and Advanced Reinforcing Technology™ (ART™), which adds
strength to the blank without adding extra weight or bulk, the new Bank Robbers
are two of the most technologically advanced fly rods to be introduced in many
years.

Sweet components are used and also
lightweight
Bank Robbers are fitted with Fuji® K stripper
guides and Fuji® MN tops, both with Alconite rings, and hard chrome snake guides
– with all thread wraps protected by two coats of Flex Coat® slow-cure
finish. The handles feature lightweight machined-aluminum reel seats with built
in hook-keepers and flora-grade cork grips. The Bank Robber, having a limited
lifetime warranty, will be available in October and will retail for $400.

Legend Elite (Fly): This series is not new
but because of its popularity St Croix is going back and upgrading them with the latest and greatest technology. The 2011 models of
the Legend Elite fly rods will now include the 3M Matrix resin with the SCV
graphite to further improve upon the already impressive durability and strength. The updated fly rods
will still have the same popular actions and St. Croix will be keeping them the
same price when they become available with the new graphite formula come January.

Thanks Jeff Schluter for showing
us all the new and exciting rods
Conclusion: Most exciting out of the camp
at St. Croix was the implementation of the 3M technology into both new and
existing rods. St. Croix had a good presentation to support their findings
and the company has a great track record of rigorous testing which leads to
excellent refinement and consistency in their rods and these latest offerings
from St. Croix look like they will continue this trend.
