2006 ICAST Reel Coverage |
ICAST Coverage Day 1 (Reels) - Paradise for Reel Enthusiasts in Las Vegas (continued)

Okuma:
It
wasn't long ago that Okuma was just entering the market with baitcasting reels,
and now they have a complete line of not only round reels but low profile ones
as well. Long known for delivering plenty of value for the price Okuma's latest
introduction, the Alumina low profile aims to continue that trend. This sleek
reel is available in 200 and tiny 100 sizes and comes with a eye-catching
electric blue matte blue finish. The team at Okuma was unsure about the finish,
but after receiving nothing but positive comments about the finish during the
show has decided they indeed did get it right.

anglers, especially salmon anglers will be excited about Okuma's new Catalina
line counter reel. The Catalina features oversized gearing, and a self
lubricating stainless steel gear system. These reels punch out serious drag
pressure thanks to Carbonite drag washers that provide a much wider and smoother
drag range, all while maintaining exceptional performance and fish stopping
power.

Shakespeare/Pflueger:
There is no brand that delivers so much for so little. Pflueger's newest
spinning reel the Supreme MG features a all magnesium body and rotor, a 10
bearing system, and very aggressive porting for a extremely lightweight
solution. A magnesium reel like this would easily cost near 200 dollars from
most manufacturers but Pflueger's retail price is only $99.99! That's an
absolute steal.
