This is the first ICAST
show that Jackall was represented by the Shimano team and under the new
collaboration the brand introduced five new lures that encompassed everything
from big baits to blades.
Pro Angler Cody Meyer shows us the new baits
starting with the Mikey 140 Swimbait and describes how it doesn't hang up easily
thanks to the new lip design
Mikey 140 Swimbait
– Kicking things off is a new swimbait featuring Jackall’s unique curved lip
design, the new Kawashi Mikey 140 swimbaits is designed to enable anglers to
crank it deep while deflecting cover and potentials snags. Pro Angler Cody Meyer
enthusiastically described just how well this swimbait deflects off structure
without getting snagged. Offered in six colors including ayu, trout, pink
piraruku, black piraruku, jungle and ghost pearl gill, the Kawashi Mikey 140 has
an enhanced three-piece jointed body design for life-like swimming action, and
the feather hooks are intended to act as an additional fish attractant.
The Jockie Topwater Minnow features a diamond
shaped lip that is designed to help it dive perfectly straight
Cody demonstrates the bait angle at rest
– Combining topwater design with jerkbait action, the new Jackall Jockie 120 was
created by Kazuto Yamaki and is offered in six colors – HL aurora black,
chartreuse shad, ghost minnow, SG threadfin shad, SS shad and bluegill.
This top-water bait is designed like a jerk bait with
a diamond shaped lip that allows it to dive straight with a quick turn of your
reel, plus its bottom cup makes a popping sound when the lure hits the water.
The Jockie 120’s rear moving weight system means long casting distances for a
pop, dive and roll action, plus a unique inner scale molding design provides for
additional fish-attracting underwater flash.
The Super Eruption is a finesse spinnerbait that
is designed to put out a lot of vibration
– Jackall brings its most advanced spinnerbait to the U.S. and Canada anglers
with the new Super Eruption. They will be available in both 3/8- and 1/2-ounce
sizes, and will be offered in eight colors – noike green back, wakasagi, black
back chartreuse, white, bluegill, pearl chartreuse, peanut craw and tidal craw.
Featuring a reverse tear drop blade that spins
immediately when hits the water, the Super Eruption spinnerbaits are constructed
with 0.8mm SUS304 stainless steel wire for better transmission of vibrations,
while the contrasting front and back colors on the blades help attract bass in
stained water conditions.
The Spade Jig has a crimped skirt that makes it
flare out better
– In addition to these reaction baits Jackall also introduced a new tungsten
jig. Available in both 3/8- and 1/2-ounce sizes, the jig features a unique
pre-bent silicon skirt that perfectly imitates the legs of crawfish thanks to
the crimped design that almost looks as if the jig was shocked with electricity. With a weed
guard to minimize snags so it can be fished in light cover, along with a spade
shaped design to keep it standing, the Spade Jig T.G. comes in eight colors -
sniper pink purple, black/blue, black/purple, green pumpkin chartreuse, amber
craw, watermelon candy, green pumpkin candy and grass shrimp.
The Darts Hog can be drop shot or used as a
– The ‘secret weapon’ among big bass anglers in Japan crosses the Pacific with
the introduction of the Jackall Darts Hog softbait. The Darts Hog will be made
available in the U.S. and Canada and the four-inch crawdad imitation plastic is
constructed with high floating material that keeps the tail upright, plus the
phantom color tail can be split for added versatility. Offered in eight colors –
watermelon/pepper orange tail, green pumpkin pepper, crawdad, black blue
flake/chartreuse trail, cola red flake/blood tail, green pumpkin/gold chartreuse
tail, black blue flake/purple tail, and pearl white clear chartreuse. This
softbait is also an ideal trailer for the new Spade Jig T.G and should be deadly
when drop shot.
Thanks to Cody for showing us the new designs
Jackall has built up a reputation for quality baits with detailed designs and
each of the new lures seem to continue that tradition. While price points are
still being finalized for the U.S. market the baits will start shipping to
dealers in just a few weeks and should be available for purchase in the August
