Introduction:
After years of toying around in the mid level market price range with their Recon and M1 sticks, Phenix has finally addressed the part of market their fans have been calling for from the company for years. That’s right, the K2 rods are finally here!

Fans of Phenix Rods will be happy to know the K2 sticks are here!

Built on a blend of Toray T46 Carbon, these blanks have been available for years to custom builders.

K2 Bass Rods : Why the fuss over K2? Phenix has offered these blanks, built from their own blend of Toray T46 carbon almost since the company reincarnated itself. These blanks are very popular amongst custom rod customers, but not everyone wants a custom rod. A lot of people want to just walk into a store and buy a stick that's ready made rather than wait four to eight weeks for a stick to be built. It is a have-it-now society after all.

But now Phenix has gone to bat with their own factory version of these sticks fully built up.

Featuring components like Phenix's own custom carbon reel seat...

Well, Phenix has finally answered these customer's call and are now building a small line up of rods on these blanks as stock for sale. The initial set consists of four casting rods and two spinning rods. Each stick will feature a Phenix custom carbon real seat, Fuji titanium framed, Torzite guides, and EVA foam grips. Retail on these high end sticks ranges from $500 to $575 depending on the model. Availability is expected in October or November.

Phenix also introduced new inshore sticks for Gulf and East Coast Fishermen.

Built from 36 ton graphite, these rods feature Phenix custom reel seats.

RTS Inshore: Most of our readers are familiar with Phenix's bass rod lineup, but the company also has an equally strong presence over on the saltwater side of fishing and new this year from Phenix for the inshore fisherman is the RTS Inshore. Designed primarily for the Gulf and East Coast fisherman, there are ten (10) models (five casting and five spinning) in this series made from 36 Ton graphite built to challenge any redfish, trout, or snook that decides to bite the end of your line. RTS Inshore sticks will retail for between $179.99 - $199.99.

The new RTS Inshore sticks are sharp.

But these are the sticks that really caught our eye.

Black Chrome Salmon & Steelhead sticks.

Black Chrome : Perhaps because it's been far too long since Zander and I have wet a line in a running river, but the new rod series in the Phenix booth that really caught our eye was the new Black Chrome Salmon/Steelhead lineup. Made with hand crafted burlwood reel seats, premium cork and EVA handles, custom metal triggers on the casting rods, these sticks are about as refined as they come.

With beautiful, custom burlwood reel seats.

Casting rods feature a refined, metal trigger.

There are eight total rods with four distinct lengths, powers, and actions. Phenix is making the same stick in both spinning and casting configurations so the angler can choose the style that suits their fishing the best. Ranging from 7'-8" to 9'-2" each stick in this lineup breaks down into two pieces for ease of transport whether by vehicle or foot and price ranges from $299 $339.

A peak of what Phenix's components factory is capable.

Cliff and Vince take the time to show us what's new and exciting with Phenix this year at ICAST. Thanks guys!

Conclusion: Phenix Rods has grown leaps and bounds from the time we first learned of their reincarnation to what we witnessed at ICAST this past year. They have a deep, diverse lineup of product suitable to fish for a wide variety of species, not just bass, and the creativity that goes into each series while keeping their prices reasonable is greatly appreciated. We're anxious to take a closer look at what they define as high end in their K2 series of rods, but also are dying to take some of those Black Chrome sticks out for those hard pulling, river run Steelhead and Salmon!
