The Not so Puzzling Story Behind Enigma Fishing's Product

Introduction:
It's not uncommon for us to come across new rod manufacturers at ICAST. What is uncommon, but not unprecedented, is for a new rod manufacturer to lure one of the biggest names in bass fishing away from their longstanding title sponsor. The name, Aaron Martens has been synonymous with the brand Megabass for years, so naturally, we were curious to see what Enigma Fishing was all about. What was it about this company and the rods, that swayed Martens to part ways with a company that he'd been working with for 17 years.

Aaron Martens discusses his move from Megabass to Enigma.

Background: Enigma Fishing is based out of Florida and was founded by Jesse Tacoronte, bass fishing professional. Jesse experienced a rod failure at a critical moment during a tournament that he believes cost him the win. It was this moment that fueled his drive to manufacture a rod where this outcome would not happen again. It's really as simple as that. Enigma's fishing rods are built for durability and performance.

Aaron's Edge: Enigma Fishing's first launch was Martens's signature series, Aaron's Edge. They feature the not so new, but gaining in popularity MicroWave guide system designed by the late Doug Hannon and built by American Tackle Company. The secret to this guide system lies within that stripper guide that's designed to tame your line as it peels off wildly from your spool on each cast. The result it is argued is be better casting distance and accuracy.

The Aaron's Edge Series consists of 12 casting and 4 spinning rods.

There are 16 rods in the Aaron's Edge line in all, each made from high-strain Japanese carbon fiber bonded by an advanced nano resin. The rods feature a grey finish and split rear grips made from EVA foam. Retail on these sticks is $169.99.

Jesse Tacoronte and Aaron Martens walk us through the philosophy and product of Enigma Fishing

Conclusion: Fishing rods are not the end game for Enigma Fishing. They have plans to enter other areas of the market as well including fishing line and lures. In the meantime, we look forward to our opportunity to run their rods through the TackleTour gauntlet, but more importantly, really take a closer look at the MicroWave guide system. Stay tuned for more to come about the exciting new brand that is Enigma Fishing.
