Introduction:
For our crew here at TackleTour, the Mystic fly rod brand has quite an appropriate name. Why? Having only seen pictures and a few blurbs online, these rods have remained both mystical and mysterious to us. Since Mystic was in attendance at the IFTD show in Orlando, you can bet we were going to finally satisfy our curiosities with a visit to their booth. Here's a peek at the latest that this company has to offer.

The Sapphyre series of rods is geared towards female fly anglers.

Sapphyre:  Ladies, pay attention. With a noticeable push of female anglers these days, it only makes sense to see an increasing number of female-specific fly rods hitting the market. Mystic has embraced this with their new Sapphyre rods. Sporting high modulus 40-ton composite blanks, the full-wells grip has been altered to better accommodate the small hands of a woman.

Sapphyre rods are adorned with slimmer grips and aluminum reel seats.

The blank sports a unique sapphire-blue coloration with deep purple wraps and metallic silver trim bands. Other features include titanium Titan Ringlock stripping guides, light wire snake guides, and powder blue aluminum up-locking reel seats. Offered in 9-foot 5 and 6 weight sizes, these eye-catching rods are available now at a price of $429.00.

Spey casting enthusiasts take note—the M-Spey is here!

M-Spey: Spey anglers out there will now have more options with the release of the new M-Spey series. Touting actions similar to the current medium-fast M-Switch rods, these fresh offerings will come equipped with a unique down-locking reel seat that has an extended body to allow vintage reels with longer feet to be used.

Composite cork rings on each end of the cork grips gives the rod a classy, finished look.

Mystic has chosen titanium Titan Ringlock stripping guides along with stainless steel snake guides to provide smooth line flow. M-Spey rods will initially come in a 12-foot 3-inch 7 weight and a 13-foot 3-inch 8 weight at a price of $599.00. They are available now.

Thanks to Mark Hutchinson for giving us the tour of the new Mystic rod lines.

Conclusion: The new releases from Mystic were quite impressive and helped to complete a great first impression of what this company offers. Although Mystic isn't one of the more common household names in fly fishing quite yet, those anglers searching for something a bit different may want to look closely at this brand. Of course looks aren't everything, so hopefully we get a chance to test one of their rods in the near future!
