Introduction:
DUO has taken the premium bass market by storm and the success of their Spinbait 80 has more than put the company on the map, it has made the brand well known among both tournament anglers and weekend warriors looking for high quality hardbaits. This season the company brought out the big guns and loaded up a bunch of new baits for anglers including new additions the spinbait series as well as a brand new crankbait that is looking to go deep!

What DUO is best known for is the Spinbait 80 and introducing the Spybaiting Technique to so many anglers stateside

DUO is credited by many as the company that really brought spybaiting to the attention of US anglers and since then many other companies have jumped into the foray but the Spinbait 80 continues to hold strong.

This ICAST DUO introduced a new larger size, the Spinbait 90, for getting deeper and targeting even bigger fish. Like the Spinbait 80 this new bait features a compact profile with low co-efficient air and water drag, delivering that subtle yet effective rolling action and a more natural decent than many other lures. But this is not just a bigger version. Mr. Adachi, the lure designer of the Spinbait 80, increased the height of sides to generate a wider flashing effect when retrieved.

DUO's newest weapon, the deep diving G-Fix G87 20A crankbait

G-Fix Crank G87 20A: DUO is also introducing a brand new deep diving crankbait that has been engineered to not only truly dive to the 20 foot mark but actually deliver proper action while down at those depths.

Getting to those depths is not actually the challenge, it is to get to that depth and still remain totally balanced and stay in the strike zone while delivering that effective action. On top of that the lure must cast well and be able to travel through the air with minimal resistance. DUO took on this challenge and created a advanced weight transfer system that uses an internal magnetic system.

Notice the internal chamber system and turned up lip design. There is plenty of engineering in this deep diving crank

The G87's enlarged magnetic ballast carriage hides the casting bearing outside the body cavity and makes use of Neodymium to perfectly match the company's durability and bearing size requirements. Sound's like mad science? DUO claims that this design results in 200 foot casts with 12lb. tests!

The G87 also has a special lip that turns slightly upwards which allows the bait to descend at a very aggressive angle once it is in the water. Then when it hits the 20 foot depth it helps keep the lure in the strike zone and allows for steep pitch angles during both the descent and very end of the retrieve, keeping the bait in the strike zone longer. The new G87 looks like one of the most exciting new deep diving cranks to hit the market this season and will retail for $14.99 when it becomes available around the September timeframe.

The finish on this prototype already looks excellent

Before walking away from the booth David Swendseid, on DUO's R&D team, also showed us a new glide bait prototype that the team is working on. Not much could be said about the bait at this point other than it has an ultra-realistic profile and finish. The bait will continue to be refined over the course of the year and materials will be finalized, but if it comes out with the same attention to detail we have seen in the DUO's other baits this is yet another bait to watch from the company that shows no signs of letting up, as they introduce one innovative hardbait after another.
