Introduction:
Cortland offers a staggering array of fly lines for all aspects of fly fishing. We can think of no better way to introduce new products than at the yearly IFTD show, and this year they did just that by showcasing several new lines intended to enhance your fly fishing experience.

These premium Cortland lines come in a unique round tin.

Trout Boss HTx: The 100-foot Trout Boss HTx lines blend a thin braided-nylon multifilament core with a new taper for increased performance. The head is made up of a 45-foot 6-inch head with a 10-foot level line “handling section” that is a bit thicker in diameter than the main running line for additional control. All lines are weight-forward floaters and are treated with a new proprietary heat-tempered coating (HTx) for maximum castability and durability. These lines will be available in 3–8 weight sizes and feature a chartreuse/ivory color scheme with a welded loop on each end. Expect these lines to hit the market October 1st at a price of $80.00 each.

More fresh releases.....

Crystal Fresh Precision SL:  Classified as a weight-forward floating line, this new 90-foot fly line is designed to barely break the surface of the water. Cortland combines clear polyethylene onto a mono core which makes this line clear and unobtrusive. Both a trout taper for 4 thru 6 weights as well as an all-purpose taper for 6 to 10 weights—both with welded loops—will be offered. Because of the materials of these lines, they are intended for use in temperatures of 50 degrees (F) or higher. You'll start seeing them become available January 1st at a price of $80.00 each.

Striper and bluefish anglers will appreciate the new saltwater lines.

Precision Competition Nymph Mono: Enjoy using light fly rods? This new series of weight-forward floating lines are available solely in 0 and 1-weight sizes. Utilizing mono cores, these lines are round, stiff, and offer increased feel. The 0-weight measures 72-feet long, while the 1-weight spans 90 feet, and each features a welded loop on each end. This pair of lines is colored in heron blue and retails for $59.95 with availability beginning October 1st.

We can think of a few places to use these lines!

Saltwater Coldwater Plus Blitz: Featuring a 100-foot overall length, this new saltwater line features a compact and clear intermediate head with a floating blue running line. The braided nylon multifilament core stays supple in cold water, while the HTx coating allows for easy delivery. These lines come equipped with a welded loop on each end and are offered in 275, 350, and 425-grain weights. You can go out and grab one starting October 1st at an MSRP of $80.00.

Saltwater Coldwater Plus Deep Salt: Delivering nearly all of the same features as the Coldwater Plus Blitz line mentioned above, this line sports a slightly different 27-foot type VIII fast-sinking head design. Available in the same sizes as the Blitz line, the only other difference is its black head and blue running line color scheme. Go out and snap one up beginning October 1st for a price of $80.00.

Thanks to Brooks Robinson for filling us in on the new products.

Conclusion: Cortland continues to broaden the vast spectrum of lines they offer with specialized new offerings. As fly fishing continues to grow, rest assured that Cortland will continue to develop products that meet the demand.
