Introduction: Boomerang Tool Company has made a name for itself with a series of tools that are designed to be effective and there when you need them the most. Always within reach most of their tools are attached using a durable retractor.

Boomerang's latest cutters, the Big Snip (top) and the Snip Long Jaws are designed to cut heavier test lines

One of their simplest yet quite possibly most recognizable tool is the “Snip,” a small retractable line cutter that features an integrated closed blade safety mechanism. We reviewed this product previously and found it to be an excellent cutter of both mono and braided lines. The ability to attach it to just about any garment or tackle bag makes it easy to deploy the Snip and I have found it equally good for fishing on the boat or when hiking in the backcountry.

Daniel Cornell, Owner of Boomerang, shows us the new H3 Pliers prototype

This year Boomerang is taking the tool a step further by introducing the “Big Snip,” which is a basically a larger version of the Snip, capable of tackling heavier superlines. The Big Snip increases the cutting power and is good for saltwater applications. Together with the “Snip” and the “Snip Long Blade” there is sure to be a cutter in the lineup for your angling application.

A look at the replaceable jaws. Fully loaded with all the key tools

Boomerang also previewed a new pair of pliers. Their current pliers the “Grip” are pretty feature rich but do not include a built in retractor. Sure you can attach one of the company’s assorted retrievers but like some of Boomerang’s other tools the goal is to have the retractor seamlessly integrated.

The new H3 Pliers will feature an integrated retractor that will be replaceable

The upcoming H3 pliers do exactly that and feature a retractor built right into the base of the handle. This retractor will be replaceable so there is no need to worry about the pliers outlasting the retractor. The pliers looked very high quality and felt solid as they are constructed out of machined aluminum. The set at the show was still a prototype and the final mass production version will integrate rubber handles for better grip.

Following in the footsteps of the popular Snip the new H3 Pliers will always be within reach of anglers thanks to the retractor and reasonable price point

The H3 pliers come with all the usual features including a split ring nose, crimping jaws and a side mounted cutter. When it is introduced in the January timeframe it will replace the company’s current “Grip” Series pliers and retail for an aggressive price of only $69.95, a very reasonable price to pay for such a feature rich pair of pliers designed specifically for anglers.
