Introduction:
One of the many manufacturers we look forward to visiting each year at ICAST is Molix. This Italian based lure manufacturer has a hip, stylish way about them that's reflected in the playful way their lures are shaped and the graphics used to market their product. Is it any wonder Mike Iaconelli is on their staff? Let's take a look at what's new for Molix in the coming year.

Italian based Molix isn't just about style, their baits have some real teeth.

Molix Frog: There's a movement of late for realistic topwater frog baits. Molix throws their candidate into the mix with the appropriately named, Molix Frog. This two and a half inch (2.5") bait weights three quarters of an ounce (3/4oz) and comes with both the traditional skirt material for legs but also a pair of realistic legs that you can swap back and forth with ease. The bait will walk with either set of legs but Molix recommends the realistic legs for open water and the skirt material for heavy cover. The Molix Frog will be available in six realistic colors.

Their new Frog bait comes with interchangeable legs.

F-Crank: Molix enters the flat sided crank market with the new F-Crank, a two and a half inch long plug available in both SR and DR running models (SR = Shallow Running, DR = Deep Running). The SR version features a durable, circuit board material lip while the DR version can be distinquished by the traditional long, clear plastic bill. Both versions will be available in eight different colors..

The new F-Crank comes in a shallow runner (SR) ...

... and a deep runner (DR) version.

SB Crank: Complimenting their new F-Crank, Molix introduces another crank that's sure to be popular, the two and a quarter inch (2 1/4") Square Bill (SB) Crank. This three eighths of an ounce (3/8oz) lure is designed for heavy cover environments and will be available in eight different colors.

The new SB Crank by Molix is sure to garner some attention.

The Lover: The Lover is Mike Iaconelli's signature bait with Molix. It's a vibrating jig that looks like a cross between a scrounger and chatterbait. The bait itself is not new to Molix. It was introduced a couple of years ago as a half ounce (1/2oz) sized lure. But this year, they're introducing a smaller size at three eighths of an ounce (3/8oz) and a larger one and a half (1 1/2oz) size.

The Lover is Mike Iaconelli's signature bait with the company and gets two new sizes for 2014.

Conclusion: Molix has also extended previous bait lines with new colors and sizes for 2014 really filling out their repertoire of stylish baits. We've had a handful of their product in our boxes since their introduction here in North America, and like a fine Italian meal, we've been savoring them quietly ever since. Guess maybe it's about time to move beyond the anti-pasto and onto the entree. Stay tuned for a series of Molix bait reviews in the coming year.
