ICAST 2013 Coverage

Big Bite Baits Gets Real.

Date: 7/11/13
Location: Las Vegas, NV
Admission: Buyers & Press Only
Manufacturer: Big Bite Baits
Reviewer: Cal

Introduction:
Big Bite Baits has made a real push over the last several years and is gaining some serious traction with the diversity of their soft plastics offering. Top that off with their very unique process of hand painting several of their lines and you have the makings of enthusiast quality soft plastics! They introduced two new baits this year at ICAST.

Russ Lane introduces his new crawdad trailer bait

Real Deal Craw: The Real Deal Craw was BASS Elite Pro Russ Lane's pet project over the last year. This CAD designed trailer closely resembles a craw and offers two actions depending upon how you configure its claws. Out of the package, they are attached and if fished this way the bait behaves like a typical trailer with the claws flapping in the water as you hop your bait across the bottom.

Russ Lane's Real Deal Craw blends realism with CAD engineering.

On top of that, Big Bite Baits adds limited edition, hand painted colors!

These hand painted craws are sure to get bit!

But detach the claws and they swim as the bait sinks or is retrieved. The bottom of each bait is ribbed for even more fish attracting water displacement action and a few of the colors are even hand painted. The Real Deal Craw measures 4" in length and will be sold in packs of 7 for standard colors and packs of 3 for the special, hand painted colors.

Dean Rojas, Russ Lane, & Jeff Kreit introduce Big Bit Baits newest swimbait

Real Deal : Leveraging the success of the wildly popular WarMouth and Buzzing WarMouth baits, Big Bite Baits creates a true swimming version called the Real Deal Shad. We could go into detail about this very intriguing bait, but it's hard to do a better job than Dean Rojas, Russ Lane, and Jeff Kreit did in the above video.

The Real Deal Shad is another extension of their very popular WarMouth bait.

But this bait swims! Look at the realism of this hand painted bluegill pattern.

What we can emphasis is the bait will be available in three different sizes (3", 4" & 5") and in 8 different hand painted colors. This looks to be a very versatile bait that can be rigged in a number of different ways and fished on a variety of retrieves.

Big Bite Baits is doing their best to produce soft plastic baits that are relevant and not simply "me too" products.

Conclusion: Big Bite Baits continues to refine their diverse catalog of soft plastic baits and not simply with "me too" type of product. The two baits introduced this year are intriguing, but we'll have to fish them ourselves to determine if they really are the Real Deal.
