Introduction:
Looking to get more girls excited about the sport
FisherGirl has expanded their offering to include a more comprehensive line of
reels and rods as well as introduces a new line of apparel making it easier than
ever for girls to gear up and hit the water.
The Mermaid Big Water combo is a
7'2" two piece outfit
FisherGirl states their mission is to "help make the
passion for fishing more contagious by providing fishing equipment, apparel and
accessories that complement the healthy lifestyles of women and children." This
Canadian based company has been introducing pink rods and reels for female
anglers since 2003. Their fishing rods are ergonomically designed to fit a
woman's hand and are specially engineered to be lightweight making them easy for
women and young girls to maneuver.
The Foxy Ultra Light combo will be
available in December and retail for only $29.99
FisherGirl goes for saltwater:
This year FisherGirl has introduced a number of new products starting with their
Mermaid Big Water fishing combo. This rod is a purplish-pink hue and is a 7 foot
two piece fiberglass rod with aluminum oxide guides and grey EVA grips. The rod
is paired up with a matching reel that has a graphite body and rotor and is
outfitted with 2 ball bearings and a front drag system.
The Ribbons rod has a patterned
ribbon overlay
Ribbons: FisherGirl supports the search for a cure for breast
cancer and has a special combo called "Ribbons" that actually makes use of the
pink ribbon design on the blank itself. The rod is 6.5" carbon graphite rod with
a cork handle and ceramic guides. It is paired with a 3 ball bearing spinning
reel with a 5.1:1 gear ratio. The entire combo retails for a very affordable
$39.99 and 5% of the profit is donated in support of breast cancer research.
So what do you spool up your
FisherGirl combo with? Pink line of course.
Clothing:
FisherGirl wants to make it easy for female anglers to get
into the sport and on top of the fishing gear from everything from the rod &
reel combos to the line and color coordinated bobbers they are also introducing
a new line of clothing that is designed to look good both on and off the water.

FisherGirl will offer everything from jackets to cotton
cable knit caps. We took a closer look at the company's wind jacket which
features a 100% water resistant construction and pink contrast piping down the
sleeves and on the front of the jacket. The FisherGirl logo is embroidered on
the left chest and printed on the upper back. This jacket can be packed down
neatly and will be available in January for a very reasonable price of $59.99.

Conclusion: FisherGirl is on a mission and wants to get girls into the
sport of fishing which is predominately dominated by men. FisherGirl offers high
quality product for very reasonable prices, and the designs of all the offerings
from the reels to the clothing are all tailored for women. Having more women
partake in the sport is a plus in itself but the company takes it a step further
by donating a portion of their profits from the sale of certain products to
support a cure for breast cancer, and that's something we can all get behind.
