Quantum:
Manning the exact same booth as last year, Quantum made a major impact at this
year’s show with a display case full of new and exciting 2006 products.
Following through on promises and prototypes shown at ICAST, Quantum has
delivered with a broad array of new and redesigned fishing reels. We spoke to
Quantum representatives Victor Romano, Jr. and Tom LeoGrande who explained to
us, in detail, the differences between the 2005 and 2006 models in the PTi
spinning series ranging from the entry level Kinetic Pti to the premium Energy
PTi.

LeoGrande explains to Cal the actions of the new Swimbait Tour
Edition PT rod
In addition to the
exciting new reels there were also new rods from Quantum in both fresh and
saltwater. The Tour Edition PT series added a few more rods most notable of
which were the new Swimbait models. The Tour Edition PT models PTC797XF and
PTC7117XF are baitcasting rods that were specially designed to fish small to
hefty swimbaits respectively. These models feature heavy action, extra-fast
taper blanks for solid hooksets. For the saltwater side we checked out the Boca
PTs line of inshore and offshore rods. The Boca series are right below the Cabo
rods and sport quality Fuji components but lack the detailing of its pricier
sibling.
