Holiday Gift Guide

2014 Holiday Gift Guide Part 2 : Swimbait Gear, Enthusiast Tackle and Value Picks (continued)

Enthusiast Casting Rod (Megabass Elseil Evoluzion C40) : Megabass continues to out do themselves each year with new, enthusiast level rod offerings. This year, they refine their top end Evoluzion series of sticks each featuring titanium fibers in their blanks. Our pick for Enthusiast Casting Rod this year is their F4 1/2-610ti Elseil.

Enthusiast Casting Rod : Megabass Evoluzion C40 Elseil - $759.99 at TackleWarehouse and Hi's TackleBox

If it's anything like its predecessor that won our very first Enthusiast Supercast Shootout in 2006, then you can expect a really good all around performer that is especially adept with spinnerbaits and rip baits like Megabass's own Vision 110. Of course, refinement like this comes at a price and at $759.99 retail, that Enthusiast tackle buff on our list will have to be uber-good to deserve such a wonderful gift. Find it now at TackleWarehouse and Hi's Tackle Box.

Enthusiast Spinning Rod : Daiwa Steez SVF AGS - $529.99 - $549.99 at TackleWarehouse and Hi's Tackle Box

Enthusiast Spinning Rod (Daiwa Steez SVF AGS) : We haven't been this excited over a spinning rod at TackleTour since discovering the now rumored to be discontinued Megabass F4st-69RSDti Hedgehog Evoluzion. Daiwa created a small stir with the introduction of their Steez SVF spinning rods with their proprietary AGS guides. These guides feature carbon fiber frames and are technically a Fuji product but Daiwa is the one making these guides for Fuji! The benefit of these guides? They're lighter than titanium framed SiCs and seemingly as sensitive as REC Recoils. The difference is so noticeable on these spinning rods that Brent Ehrler refused to give the prototype back to Daiwa after they sent one to him for his opinion!

Enthusiast Spinning Rod : Daiwa Steez SVF AGS - $529.99 - $549.99 at TackleWarehouse and Hi's Tackle Box

We finally managed to get our hands on one and while the official review is still in progress, we can say that we share Brent Ehrler's excitement over these sticks. Does that fisherman on your list covet spinning gear? The Steez SVF AGS spinning rod is available in three different models to suit a variety of needs. One of them is bound to suit that enthusiast tackle buff on your list. Daiwa's Steez SVF AGS sticks retail for between $529.99 to $549.99 and are available right now through TackleWarehouse and Hi's Tackle Box.

Enthusiast Bait : Lucky Craft SKT 120 Mag DR - $19.99 at Hi's Tackle Box and TackleWarehouse

Enthusiast Bait (Lucky Craft SKT 120 Mag DR) : Do you remember a time when Lucky Craft was considered ultra premium because of their $15 baits? Now sitting between what most would consider an affordable price point of baits in the $5-$8 range and the uber-priced baits from brands like Megabass and Evergreen International, Lucky Craft rarely gets the attention they deserve anymore. Well, this year's Enthusiast Bait pick brings the brand back to the forefront. Their SKT Magnum cranks are a lot of fun to throw and of the three models, the 120 MAG DR is still our favorite. This bait, along with the MR and SR make great stocking stuffers and are available for $19.99 at both Hi's Tackle Box and TackleWarehouse.

Value Reel : Lew's American Hero Spinning Reel - $29.99 at TackleWarehouse

Value Reel (Lew's American Hero) : Not all gifts have to break the bank and Lews has a reel designed to offer a whole lot of performance for a surprisingly low price, meet the American Hero Speed Spinning Reel. This multi-purpose spinning reel is built on a graphite body and rotor platform and has a brass pinion gear for extra durability and an oversized disc drag system to deliver plenty of stopping power for a wide range of species. The spool is constructed out of aluminum and double anodized to match the fold down anodized aluminum handle. The 200 size reel weighs in at 9.5oz. and retails for only $29.99 at Tackle Warehouse, and if that wasn't enough you can feel good knowing that Lews also donates a portion of the profits from the reels to support American Veterans.

Value Rod : Abu Garcia Vengeance Spinning Rods - $49.99 at TackleWarehouse

Value Rod (Abu Garcia Vengeance 2 Piece Rods) : A quality fishing rod also doesn't have to cost an arm and leg and for angler's looking for a lot of bang for the buck Abu Garcia offers the Vengeance 2-piece spinning rods. These travel friendly rods feature 24 ton graphite blanks for both sensitivity and strength and come loaded with zirconium coated guides that are rated for fishing braided lines.

The Abu Garcia Vengeance spinning rods break down into two pieces for easy transport

The Vengeance 2-piece rods are designed to be comfortable to fish with a split grip design with EVA handles and a soft-touch Sea Guide reel seat.
