Introduction:
Who doesn't like catching bass on topwater plugs? The anticipation and heart-stopping strikes experienced while working topwaters makes these baits favorites of anglers everywhere. One problem: which lure to choose? With such a massive variety out there, narrowing down the choices can be a bit of a gamble. I've certainly wasted money ordering unfamiliar baits in the past only to be disappointed by their on-the-water performance. Storm's Arashi Top Walker was one of these new-to-me baits, and it was one that I was eager to put to the test. How could I not get excited about testing a surface bait?!

Storm's Arashi Top Walker comes rigged with three sharp trebles.

Quality/Construction: I received both a size 11 and 13 for testing. Both of these baits had one thing in common, and that was the clean look. The coloration is attractive, with a smooth, clean appearance throughout. The finish isn't extreme, but there's a scale pattern painted on the back and some light detailing around the head/gills. Rounding out the bait are a pair of mean-looking eyes and three sharp trebles hanging off split rings that are of good quality.

These baits sport a bit of detailing around the head.

Performance: I mostly threw the size 11, and I'll tell you there's no trouble casting the bait. At a weight of 3/4 ounce, it casts quite far and does so on a straight trajectory. It not only casts well, but is easy to work, too. The walking action isn't hard to achieve and the bait is equally capable of short side-to-side darts or nice long glides. Storm designed the bait with a low-rolling action that helps keep the hooks under the bait for better hookups. When at rest, the Top Walker sits on the surface with a slight nose-up attitude.

Features: The Arashi Top Walker contains multiple rattles for some noticeable sound. While the rattles are very audible, I'd classify their noise as more of a mellow sound rather than a sharp, crackling rattle. Another feature to note are the three hook hangars. They are rotated for the advertised benefits of allowing for larger hooks and keeping the hooks closer to the body for better action.
