A look inside the design of the Quantum Aruba PTs

Date: 3/01/08
Tackle Type: Reel
Manufacturer: Quantum
Reviewer: JIP

Introduction:
The Aruba PTs is Quantum’s first big game trolling reel, and is the culmination of over three years worth of research. The Aruba PTs conventional reel exhibits some quality features including a dual carbon drag system, Nitrogen-Alloy PT bearings, and a tool-less takedown for quick and easy maintenance. Before we hit the water we take this reel apart and take a detailed look at each component to see just what this reel is made of.

Impressions: We were taken aback when first introduced to the Aruba PTs at ICAST 2006. Quantum has been moving into the coastal saltwater market with their line of Performance Tuned Saltwater reels and rods, but when we saw the big game offshore trolling reel we remarked how ambitious a project this was.

A solid machined reel. The drag adjustment is done by turning the dial

For their first foray into a two-speed offshore trolling reel, Quantum's Aruba PTs appears solid. The reel’s construction along with the features Quantum implemented on this reel are designed to address the needs of the most hard core saltwater anglers.

This stunning reel sports all high-quality components

The Aruba PTs conventional reel comes in five different models ranging in size and speeds.
