Daiwa Celebrates 50 Years in the Industry by Upping the Ante in the Enthusiast Market (continued)

All the new Zillion rods will come with Fuji SiC guides, Air-Foam grips and Daiwa’s Limited Lifetime Warranty. An interesting feature of these sticks is yet another new reel seat. Borrowing from the design on their familiar Team Daiwa series of rods, these new Zillion real seats feature winged sides for a more ergonomic grip but are built of a new, proprietary material called ZaionTM. This material is a new, graphite blend with similar weight and deflection characteristics to magnesium without the corrosion aspects when introduced to saltwater.

… and they’re taking things one step further with the new Fuego spinning reels’ frame and rotor

Carrying their new material to the next step, Daiwa has redesigned their Fuego spinning reel for this year incorporating ZaionTM  into the frame and rotor of their new reel.  The redesigned Fuego will be available in six sizes, a 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500, and 3000 and weigh 6.5 oz, 7.0 oz, 7.0 oz, 7.8oz, and 9.2 oz respectively. Each reel will come with a spare aluminum spool and will retail for an MSRP of $279.95. To compliment the new Fuego spinning reel is a line of five (5) spinning rods ranging from a 6’6” medium powered, extra fast tip rod (MSRP $199.95) to a 7’0” medium heavy powered, extra fast tip rod (MSRP $219.95) to a 7’3” medium powered, extra fast tip rod (MSRP $219.95).

This version is rather understated compared to the previous generation Fuego spinning reel

For the saltwater anglers, Daiwa introduces a line of Saltist levelwind reels helping to make line management a bit easier for those new to the inshore game. These reels will be available in two speeds, a standard 4.9:1 gear ratio (40 and 50 sizes only), and a high speed 6.1:1 gear ratio (20, 30, 40, & 50 sizes). These reels will retail for an MSRP of $169.95 to $199.95).
