Total Score: 7.58 - GOOD

Introduction:
Rarely does a manufacturer's name become synonymous with a single one of their products, but when you speak the name, "Huddleston" in bass fishing circles, any bass angler worth the salt in their Senko is going to think of an eight (8) inch soft plastic trout swimbait. Of course there are many variations to this same bait now and Huddleston even makes a couple of other baitfish profiles, but did you know they also make a crawfish imitator bait? It's taken us some time, but here now is our look at the diminutive two-and-three-quarter inch (2.75") Huddle Bug by Huddleston.

Introducing the Huddlebug by Huddleston Baits.

Impressions: Many soft plastic baits look nothing like what they're supposed to imitate and still others look nothing like anything in nature, but instead what you might find on an alien planet. Huddleston has never been a manufacturer to lean toward the abstract. Rather, their baits are always super realistic so when you first encounter their interpretation of a craw-style bait, it should come as no surprise that the Huddlebug looks like a real life crawdad in shape and form.

The Huddlebug is a super realistic crawdad bait.

Where many crawdad imitating baits tend to over-exaggerate the bait's claws, Huddleston chooses to give the Huddlebug more scale appropriate claws to the point where this little bug looks entirely unthreatening and unthreatened.

Detailing extends to the underside.

Performance: Case in point, when you rig this bait with the suggested Huddleston jighead, the Huddlebug is built to just crawl along the bottom like an unsuspecting crawdad. There's no flash, no defensive posture, not even an infused scent, it just does its job by imitating a real life crawdad crawling along the bottom looking for forage.

The claws and appendages are to scale and not exaggerated.

Next Section: Crawl that bug!
