Introduction: As we've been uncovering all year, Abu Garcia's gen four revamp of their freshwater reel lineup extends from the newly introduced Revo X through their flagship Premier. However, casting reels weren't the only product to receive a refresh. Abu's extensive lineup of spinning reels received a corresponding renewal. Today, we take a look at one of the workhorses in their spinning lineup. Here's our take on the Gen 4 Revo S S30 spinning reel.

Impressions: Abu Garcia's Revo S is available in four different sizes from 10 through 40. We fished the 30. Spinning reel sizes are always difficult to correlate, but just going by rated line capacity, a 30 sized Revo spinning reel is roughly equivalent to a Daiwa 2500 or Shimano 3000 size spinning reel. When you get down to spool diameter and body size, well, it's much more difficult to compare.

The Revo S Spinning reel is available in four sizes. We fished the S30.
 

The Revo S30 is the typical, physical size spinning reel I routinely fish. I adore spinning reels that are made super small, like the 1000 or even 750 sized Shimano reels, but line management is much more of an issue because of the smaller diameter spools on those reels. Hence my preference for the larger reels like a Revo S30.
