Going Rogue, Simms Hoody Style
(continued)
 Retailing
for between $89.99-$99.95 the Rogue Fleece Hoody is certainly more expensive
than traditional pullover hoodies, and when it comes to brands Simms does always
seem to command a bit of a premium. Traditional premium cotton hoodies retail
for around 60 dollars and given the features that the Rogue offers a 30-40
dollar delta is worth it.

The Rogue provides some protection
from light rain and mist in moist conditions
Make no mistake this is no ordinary hoody, while the
outer layer does provide some water resistance, good overall wind resistance and
is more durable than standard cotton based hoodies it isn’t actually wind or
water proof.

Talk about attention to
detail
This is a
semi-technical garment that will serve anglers well both as a layering piece as
well as an outer garment in more mild conditions. When it comes to extreme cold,
wind or rain you will still want to put on a shell, but for any midrange
conditions or getting around town this hoody provides comfort and warmth without
restricting movement. The Rogue Hoody has a clean relaxed style to it and can be
used for everyday wear and run the gamut of outdoor activities.

Great performance as long as you don't expect this garment to "do it all."
When used for mid range applications or as a layering piece the Rogue Hoody
really shines. The comfort and mobility provided by this Hoody is hard to
beat |

This hoody is more expensive than other premium hoodies but then again it
isn't just a traditional cotton hoody, this garment does offer some
technical features and is absolutely worth the additional 30-40 dollars |

(Ergonomics) |
Very comfortable as long as you make sure you get the right size. They seem
to run a bit large so make sure you feel comfortable in the garment. The
larger size does make it possible to layer inside the hoody for those very
cold days |

| Application |
Great for mid range applications or layering. Very wader and bib friendly
and will serve both bass and fly anglers very well. For extreme weather
conditions a shell is still necessary |

Conclusion:
When it comes to comfort and performance the Simms Rogue Hoody delivers on most
fronts. It is important that anglers realize what this hoody is, and what it
isn’t. It is a great choice for a wide range of mid-range applications
and can be combined with other garments as a mid-layer delivering both comfort
and warmth for those chilly and wet mornings. It isn’t a complete shield
from the elements and while it does have some water resistance and is a decent
wind shield it is not completely wind or waterproof.

This hoody really is a comfortable
multi-purpose garment
As long as you
know what the garments limitations are, and are prepared for harsher conditions,
this garment is an absolutely fantastic addition to your closet. When it comes
to comfort and mobility this hoody is superb, and I love the fact that it does
offer some moisture resistance so you can wear it on cold foggy morning boat
runs or in light rain. The best part of a hoody like this is when it gets cold
you can draw that hood and stay out fishing longer, nothing kills a bite like
painful freezing ears.

Simms makes going "Rogue" easy and
this is one garment that I will continue to be using for applications beyond
just fishing
Over the course
of the year I’ve built up a lot of good memories while fishing with this Simms
hoody, and the garments have held up well and continue to perform. Simms is
eliminating the “Coal” pattern from the lineup and introducing the Cinder Catch
which is a little more aggressive looking. Anglers that want a more traditional
color can now pick up this hoody in “black,” and fingers crossed that they
introduce one with the cool looking salt camo that they employ on their
SunGloves and SunArmor, these could potentially be popular among coastal
anglers. Overall this is probably my favorite hoody to date, one that I
consistently don for so much more than just wetting a line. Going “Rougue” is an
easy choice, just make sure you order yourself the right size and this is one
hoody that will serve you well.
