For Those On The Go –  Mission Athletecare SPF 30+ Is A No Muss, No Fuss Sunscreen Stick (continued)

Even swimming an entire day this sunscreen kept me from burning and did not come off. It retained its efficacy well after 80 minutes. The only minor drawback is even after a hot shower and scrubbing with a soapy washcloth, it still left a thin layer of the wax like protection on the skin.

The SPF 30 formulation kept me from getting burned in the sun for four hours with no reapplication.

I like the idea of sunscreen in a stick.  Makes it easier to carry around, with less risk of spills.  I carried it with me in my kayak and  had it sitting in my bag on the hot sand for an entire day and it maintained its consistency without getting soft or runny in the hot sun. The only downside is that it's a small tube for the price. I only used this on my face and found it to be an easier application  than using it all over my body.  I found it to be a tedious process using this on my arms, neck and legs. You'd definitely have to carry this and another sunscreen around if you want a quicker application to the rest of your body and if cost is a concern.

Portable and easy to drop into a tackle bag or shorts pocket for handy reapplication throughout the day.

Ratings: (We've re-calibrated our ratings standard for 2008 and have included a key at the bottom of the following matrix as a guide)

Mission No Sting Sunscreen Facestick SPF 30 Ratings (?/10)

Construction/Quality Mission makes a great sunscreen stick in a small and easy to carry container 9
Performance Fabulous on the eyelids; doesn't burn or drip into eyes, doesn't come off after swimming or sweating for prolonged periods, great SPF protection. 9
Price Small tube for the price (.6oz), if only used on the face this isn't much of a problem.  However, another sunscreen may be necessary for the entire body to keep cost down. 7
Features The Mission No Sting Sunscreen Facestick is easy to use and performs well under a wide variety of conditions. Top features include the actual formulation of the sunscreen which is water-resistant, offers high-performance broad-spectrum UVA/UVB coverage, is oil-free, paraben-free, preservative-free, vitamin-enriched, unscented and clinically proven not to sting your eyes, all in a convenient applicator format 8
Design (Ergonomics) Not “gooey” or greasy at all, buttery soft texture that glides and melts into the skin,  but even after washes in the shower there can be some residue 7
Application The small applicator is both a plus and a minus. While small enough to go everywhere with you the ability to cover larger areas is tedious. This stick is good for your face, ears, lips and nose but any larger areas require a more traditional sunblock 7

Pluses and Minuses:

                 Plus                                    Minus

+ easy to carry around with less risk of spills - it's really only useful for face application. If you want to protect the rest of your body, it takes way too long to apply this stick to that much surface area
+long lasting sun protection, doesn't come off -facestick is only available in SPF 30, need a wider range of protection for those that prefer using a higher number
+ no stinging or running into eyes -small tube for the price

Conclusion: If you don't want sunscreen to get into your eyes, this is the product to get. In my opinion, it is the very best. Other products that claim to not run into the eyes, have not lived up to my expectations.   This product is fantastic and did exactly what I needed it to do, which was stay on, protect me from sun, and stay out of my eyes when I sweat.  I've tried many sunscreen facesticks over the years and non have performed as well as this.  This is easy to apply, doesn't run, doesn't sting or burn around the eyes when running in hot, humid weather.  You can feel confident that you're applying only the best in suncare to your skin as Mission's products are all field tested by professional athletes.  The company doesn't engage in animal testing with their products and only used healthy ingredients that are good for your skin and the environment.

Make sunscreen a part of your daily routine. Your skin will thank you for it!

Nothing beats a quality sunscreen when you're out in the elements on a daily basis.  I find myself reaching for this stick everyday when I am enjoying the outdoors.

Stay protected and moisturized and say goodbye to lizard skin with daily use.

Sunscreen should not only be reserved for those hot days on the beach but should actually be part of your daily routine of sorts just like getting dressed in the morning.  Even when the sun isn’t shining oh so brightly, those UV rays will still be at work. Protect yourself from the damage that they bring and this stick is a convenient solution for anglers that want sun protection wherever and whenever you go outside.
