ICAST 2020 Coverage

Storm Bolsters Its Rebellious Nature

Date: 7/15/20
Location: Virtual Event
Admission: Industry Only
Manufacturer: Storm Lures
Reviewer: Cal

Introduction:
It's been over two decades since Storm Lures was ushered into the Normark family of brands, a family that includes Rapala, Luhr Jensen, Terminator, Sufix, VMC, and more. Somewhere within the last decade, probably around the time they debuted their Arashi Squarebill, the brand began to develop a somewhat rebellious streak. Perhaps the brand is growing weary of playing younger sibling to Rapala, or maybe it's just being true to their name. Regardless, we found some interesting new product at ICAST 2020, that made us want to weather through the brand.

The Arashi Swimmer is expected to arrive at the end of the year

Arashi Swimmer : Following on the popularity of the Arashi Glide introduced last year, Storm introduces a more subtle, 3-piece version in the Arashi Swimmer. 3-piece baits are typically more snakey swimmers than their 2-piece siblings and create less disturbance in the water. They are actually a more traditional hard, big bait design. The Arashi Swimmer will be offered in 9 different colors and come with the same rotating hook hangars as the Glide. It measures seven inches (7") in length, weighs just two and three sixteenths of an ounce (2 3/16oz), comes with two, VMC 1/0 treble hooks and a spare tail and is rated as a moderate sink bait (0.8ft per second). It is available for pre-order right now at TackleWarehouse for $37.99 per bait.

The new Largo Shad swims either on the retrieve or free fall

Largo Shad : Also new from Storm this year is a paddletail bait designed to entice bites both on the retrieve and during free fall. The Largo Shad swims with a slow body roll and exaggerated tail swing but has the same action when sinking to the bottom on free fall. Use it as a trailer or alone but either way, the tail on this bait can actually be customized to suit the bite by cutting or removing the soft plastic tendon for a wider, more aggressive kicking action. It is offered in a three or four inch (3" or 4") size and sold in packs of 7 or 6 baits respectively for $4.99. Offered in an array of sixteen (16) colors, the Largo Shad is available right now for pre-order from TackleWarehouse.

The 360GT Searchbait Shad will soon be available pre-rigged

360GT Searchbait Shad: For those who prefer a more traditional paddletail product, Storm is introducing their 360GT Searchbait Shad in a pre-rigged package. Previously sold separately, Storm is combining the Searchbait Shad and Searchbait Shad Jighead in ten (10) pre-rigged, custom color configurations and two sizes. The 3.5" comes with a 1/4oz jighead while the 4.5" comes with a 3.8oz jighead. Each package includes one pre-rigged, and one spare body. Each of the 10 color combinations features a head custom painted to match the tails.
