Dobyns Rods Reveals Conservation Series Commemorative Sticks

Introduction: The mood was very different with Dobyns Rods this year at ICAST. Instead of showing off new rods or talking about what they has planned for the coming year, we met up with founder Gary Dobyns and Tim Cook of Tournament Fish Care Products, State Conservation Director for the Texas BASS Federation Nation, and the 2006 BASS Federation Nation Conservation Director of the Year to discuss, in person, their hopes for the future of America's favorite pass time fishing.

Conservation of our natural fishing resources is something both Gary and Tim are heavily involved with and concerned about. So much so, that together they developed a program to set aside proceeds from a special set of Dobyns Rods earmarked for fishing conservation programs.
Each rod features a special logo, color scheme, and the title "Freshwater Conservation Series"
Tim told us that the majority of States have zero budget set aside for conservation efforts and some have as little as $500 set aside for the entire year. That's how critical this program is to the future of our sport and why both Gary and Tim were busy this year, trying to get other organizations involved.

For Dobyns Rods part, Gary had on hand his two Conservation Series rods, one casting and one spinning, that represent two of their best selling sticks. Each of these rods feature special graphics and colors to reflect participation in the program. $25 from the sale of each of these rods goes to a fund in support of Dobyns Conservation Partners. Dobyns hopes to be able to include more rods in the program in the very near future, but for now, they are concentrating on getting more organizations in involved in this very important program.

Conclusion: It's rare that a company as small as Dobyns Rods will go through this amount of effort to give back to the resource that's helped create their livelihood.
