We met the folks over at WaveSpin back at ICAST 2007 and each year is an opportunity to stop by and say hello once again to see what’s new with this innovative company. The big news for them this year of course, was the Doug Hannon designed and patented MicroWave guide for spinning rods. But in the WaveSpin booth itself, Russ Riley showed us the product he’s most excited about and that’s a more cost effective version of their already popular line of spinning reels. The ZTR1500 and ZTR3000 offer the same innovative designs as the original DH series of reels but at an even more economical price.

The ZTR1500 is rated for 160 yards of six pound line, features a gear ratio of 5.0:1 (~22 inches per turn of the handle), four ball bearings, weighs eight ounces, and comes with a one year warranty - all for $45.95 retail.

The ZTR3000 is rated for 160 yards of ten pound line, features a slightly higher 5.1:1 gear ratio (~26.5 inches per turn), the same 4 ball bearings, weighs ten ounces and comes with a one year warranty for $49.95 retail.
