Introduction: Gamakatsu introduced two new hooks at ICAST and both the Wicked Wacky and Heavy Cover Worm feature innovations designed to make it easier for anglers to target fish with in very specific applications.

Gamakastu's soon to be introduced Wicked Wacky hook

Wicked Wacky: The new Gamakatsu Wicked Wacky hook is built on the company's Proven Shiner hook and features a durable hand tied weed guard that is designed to provide protection in and around heavy cover.

The Wicked Wacky has a hand tied weed guard for heavy cover

The Wicked Wacky features a hollow tube which is hand tied to the shank. One you tie a knot on the lure you can run the tag end of the line through the tube and tie it on to the weight. This keeps the line in perfect position for pitching into heavy cover or for heavy drop shot applications.

The Wicked Wacky will be available in sizes from 1/0 to 5/0 and comes three to a pack. Each pack will retail for around $6.60 and hit store shelves this coming Fall.

Simply tie on the hook and run the tag end through the tube

Heavy Cover Worm hook: Flip hooks are more popular than they have ever been thanks in big part to new punch techniques and widely available skirts like those from Paycheck Baits. The Gamakatsu Heavy Cover Worm hook is a forged hook that is built to extremely high standards to handle the biggest fish in the heaviest cover.

This hook features a solid welded eye which is perfect for tying snell knots with braid. Unlike competing hooks with bulky heat shrink barbs the Gamakatsu hook features a small wire keeper that is designed to be more compact yet is strategically placed for even greater holding power. The Heavy Cover worm will be available in 3/0, 4/0 and 5/0 sizes and be sold 4 per pack for 7 dollars. Like the Wicked Wacky hook the Heavy Cover Worm hook will be available in Fall.

Conclusion: There is a reason that Gamakatsu hooks are so popular among anglers from Japan to the U.S., the combination of innovation and excellent quality add up to consistent performance that anglers targeting Bass to Tuna can count on. The two new hooks for the coming season are designed to give fans of flipping and pitching new weapons in which to target bass in a heavy cover.
