Introduction: Lure's are always fun to cover at ICAST, as the category
has the most room for innovation. You never know what will be that next "hot"
lure. The swimbait craze was truly in full effect, and many manufacturers
offered their own take on the "perfect" swimbait. This year as we prepared to
soak in all that the lure manufacturers had to offer we asked ourselves who
would be the "MacDaddy" of all fishing lures this time around? That answer
became pretty obvious once we had a chance to check out all the lure offerings.
There's a lot of exciting tackle here at the show, so sit back and join us for
our "Live" Lure Write-up.
Easy Navigation: Because this is live
coverage and we are adding to article every minute we have provided quick-link
navigation to the individual featured sections:
Zander holds the world's only 1
Million Dollar Lure, and yes it's already been sold
MacDaddy's: You thought your limited
edition imported lures were expensive? This will absolutely blow your mind.
MacDaddy's unveiled their most daring lure creation ever....the 1 Million Dollar
Fishing Lure! The lure was designed by Mac McBurney and manufactured by Uneek
Fine Jewelry Collection. But make no mistake, this is not a piece of "jewelry"
it is a functional fishing lure!
This one of a kind Big Game Lure
is encrusted with 100 carats of diamonds and rubies (4,753 stones to be exact)
The Million dollar lure was styled after High 5
Lures' design for the winning lure used at the 25th Annual Black and Blue
Bisbee's Tournament. This is the most expensive lure ever built and is crafted
with over 3 pounds of 14-karat and 1-karat gold and platinum, then encrusted
with 100 carats of diamonds and rubies. 4753 stones are used to be exact, and
this exotic big game lure is just over 12 inches in length.
At rest the skirts come to rest
and reveal the hooks connected to the massive jeweled head
It's a strange feeling holding a million dollar
lure, well...it's probably a strange feeling holding a million dollar anything
between two fingers. This truly is the gift for the angler that has everything.
So would anyone actually buy such a lure? The one that we saw at the show had
actually already been sold and was just on loan!
The lure weighs 3 pounds, and
makes use of 14-karat and 18-karat gold and platinum
So is the lure just for display only? No. The team
plans to fish one of these lures at the upcoming Bisbee's 26th annual Black and
Blue Tournament October 24-28th, in Cabo San Lucas. Mexico. Now that takes guts!
We were told by the company that it costs just over 30 thousand dollars in
insurance money per day just to fish the lure!
The skirt features platinum links
and even larger diamonds
The company's slogan is "We put the Bling on your
String," and in the case of this big game lure that statement couldn't be more
true. Mac Daddy's fishing lures and flies have always offered more than just
your ordinary fishing tackle, and in the single year that the company has been
in existence creating functional tackle/jewelry they have graduated from diamond
encrusted spoons to this extraordinary work of art.
